On October 10, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI of Russia) Sergey Katyrin held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Toufik Djouama, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Russian Federation.
Vice President of the CCI of Russia Vladimir Padalko also took part in the meeting.
During the talks, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as prospects for developing interaction between the business communities of Russia and Algeria.
Mr. Katyrin emphasized that the CCI of Russia consistently supports the strengthening of mutually beneficial economic ties between the two countries. He noted that expanding business relations requires a systematic exchange of information and direct interaction between entrepreneurs.
“We see strong potential for developing partnership relations and are ready to facilitate direct contacts between Russian and Algerian companies,” — said Mr. Katyrin.
He also underlined the important role of the Russian-Algerian Business Council operating under the CCI of Russia. Since September 2024, the Council has been chaired by Mr. Ahmed Azimov, who also participated in the meeting.
The Council organizes and takes part in a number of initiatives, including bilateral forums, scientific and practical conferences, consultations, and business missions, while also providing advisory support to Russian companies interested in the Algerian market.
Mr. Katyrin noted the importance of regular information exchange and expressed readiness to provide the CCI infrastructure for hosting specialized events.
“The CCI of Russia is ready to offer its platform for a presentation of Algeria’s investment potential, with the participation of over 130 regional chambers across the country,” — said the CCI President.
Ambassador Djouama, in turn, expressed appreciation for the Russian side’s initiative and emphasized the practical value of dialogue between entrepreneurs of both countries.
“We consider the initiative to hold an Algeria presentation at the CCI of Russia highly relevant for the business community. We are confident this will be an important step toward further strengthening economic partnership,” — noted the Ambassador.
Mr. Katyrin also recalled that the visit of the CCI delegation to Algeria in April 2025 became a significant stage in the development of bilateral business relations.
“Your country provided comprehensive support to our work. We greatly appreciate the organizational assistance that made the visit as productive as possible,” — he emphasized.
