Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune, elected for a second term, summarised his economic policy priorities for the next five years in his inaugural speech:
Increasing the share of industry in the country's GDP (excluding oil and gas) from the current 4 per cent to 12 per cent ;
implementation of major national projects, including: oil and gas industry, mining, expansion of the railway network from 4000 to 12500 km
Increasing non-resource exports to 15 billion per year (from 5 billion in 2023); currently, they are provided by supplies of metal products, cement, food products and some other goods abroad
Agricultural development: reclamation of an additional 1 million hectares of land, achieving self-sufficiency in durum wheat in 2025 and in barley and maize in 2026.
Increasing the number of foreign investment projects in Algeria from 9 to 20 thousand.

According to A. Tebboun, such economic policy will create additional 450 thousand jobs and increase the country's GDP from the current 260 billion to 400 billion, as well as lead to a two-fold increase in the income of the population.
The President promised to elaborate on the proposed economic policy measures in the near future.
