On November 28, 2024, an online meeting of the asset of the Russian-Algerian Business Council with the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Algeria, Ivan Nalich, took place. The main topic of discussion was the current directions of Russian-Algerian cooperation in economics and business.
Ivan Nalich stressed that Algeria is interested in attracting foreign investment in strategically important sectors of the economy. The oil and gas industry has traditionally played a leading role, but more and more attention is being paid to the development of alternative energy, especially solar. This sector opens up new prospects for joint projects and technologies.
Special attention was paid to the agro-industrial complex. According to I. Nalich, Algeria imports a significant part of agricultural products, but is actively working to reduce this dependence by increasing domestic production. This area is of considerable interest to Russian companies that are ready to offer their technologies and expertise.
Transport infrastructure is another key area. I. Nalich spoke about plans for large—scale railway construction, which involves the participation of both Algerian and foreign partners, including Russian companies.
During the meeting, the participants agreed to hold such events on a regular basis in order to discuss prospects for cooperation and develop practical solutions.
The Russian-Algerian Business Council continues to work on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, opening up new business opportunities.
