TASS: Algeria ready to organize fairs in Russia – Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council
Algeria has announced its intention to organize specialized exhibitions in Moscow to promote national products and establish direct contacts with Russian companies. This was reported by Ahmed Azimov, Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council, citing the words of Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade.
“The Minister of Foreign Trade of Algeria noted the current imbalance in bilateral trade and emphasized that Algerian industry is showing dynamic growth, opening up broad export opportunities. He stated that Algeria is ready to offer a wide range of locally produced goods to the Russian market and is counting on strengthening trade relations,” Azimov said.
“In this context, the Algerian side expressed its readiness to organize specialized exhibitions in Moscow to showcase the achievements of its national industry, promote its products, and establish direct links with Russian companies,” he added.
According to Azimov, the initiative was supported by Sergey Katyrin, President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).
“We are ready to provide our exhibition venues and fully support the establishment of direct business contacts between Algerian and Russian entrepreneurs,” Azimov quoted him as saying.
During the meeting in the Algerian capital, Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Development Kamel Rezig also stated that Algeria is open to new formats of cooperation with Russian companies. This was confirmed by the press service of the Russian CCI.
The two sides “discussed the current state and prospects of Russian-Algerian trade and economic cooperation, noting the potential to expand business ties in a number of sectors.” The Minister expressed interest in strengthening economic relations with Russia.
For his part, Katyrin, who is heading the business mission to Algeria, emphasized that the Russian CCI considers Algeria one of Russia’s key partners on the African continent.
“We believe that there is great untapped potential in interregional business cooperation between Russia and Algeria. In our view, there is vast scope for joint efforts by the Russian CCI and the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” he stated.
On Tuesday, the Russian-Algerian Business Forum opened in the Algerian capital. It is organized by the Russian-Algerian Business Council in cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Russia and Algeria.
