A New Government Appointed in Algeria

On Monday, November 18, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune signed a decree appointing the new government.

Prime Minister Naim Larbaoui and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Attaf retained their positions.

There have been changes in the allocation of responsibilities among some economic ministries:

  1. Instead of the Ministry of Trade and Export Support, two new departments were established:

  • Ministry of Domestic Trade and Regulation of the National Market (headed by Mohamed Boukhari)
  • Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Support (headed by Tayeb Zitouni)

  1. The Ministry of Energy and Mining was renamed to:

  • Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Renewable Energy
  • Mohamed Arkab retained his ministerial portfolio.

  1. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development was renamed to:

  • Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries
  • Youcef Cherfa retained his ministerial portfolio.

  1. The Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production is now:

  • Ministry of Industry (headed by Saifi Ghrib)
  • Note: A new position of Minister-Delegate to the Ministry of Industry, Responsible for Pharmaceutical Production has been introduced, and it is held by Fouad Hadji.
  • Said Saayoud was appointed as Minister of Transport.
  • Laaziz Faid retained his position as Minister of Finance.

The full composition of the new government will be published on the official website of the Office of the Prime Minister of Algeria.
