Locally produced insulin to be marketed in Algeria

As of next week, locally produced insulin produced by Biocare Biotech will be available in Algeria.

According to Biocare Biotech CEO A. Amraoui, Biocare Biotech's future goal is to start exporting insulin to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Tunisia and Libya, among others. By the end of 2025, the company aims to export €250m worth of insulin.

In Algeria, about 11 per cent of the population aged between 20 and 79 is reported to suffer from diabetes.

Biocare Biotech is a private Algerian company founded in 1998. Its products include drugs for rheumatology, cardiology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, etc.
