The Algerian Economic Renewal Council cancels visit to France and meeting with MEDEF

On April 15, 2025, the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) officially announced the cancellation of its planned visit to France and its meeting with the leadership of the French business organization MEDEF.

The decision was made in response to unfriendly actions by the French authorities, particularly pressure exerted on a French shipping company to cancel a planned voyage to Algeria within the framework of an investment project.

In its official statement, CREA emphasized that such actions by France can only be perceived as an attempt to undermine efforts to develop bilateral economic relations. The cancellation of the visit is a reaction to growing tensions caused by the inconsistent rhetoric of official French circles and actions that hinder cooperation, despite formal calls to strengthen the partnership.

The Algerian side pointed to a clear contradiction between France’s words and actions: on the one hand, there are declarations of intent to deepen cooperation; on the other hand, steps are being taken to undermine trust and block joint projects. CREA considers especially alarming the interference in international partnerships and attempts to prevent French companies from participating in negotiations with Algerian institutions.

In conclusion, the Algerian Economic Renewal Council reaffirmed its commitment to international norms based on mutual respect, equality, and the fulfillment of obligations. Algeria intends to firmly defend its economic interests and continue constructive dialogue with those countries and partners that demonstrate respect and a genuine willingness to cooperate.
