President of Algeria Calls for Business Mobilization: “Our Goal Is 400 Billion USD GDP by 2027”

On 14 April 2025, President of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune held a major meeting with representatives of the national business community at the International Conference Center in Algiers. The Head of State presented his economic vision for the coming years, emphasizing his determination to continue reforms and open a new chapter in the development of the national economy.

“This meeting is a turning point. It will take place every year, Inshallah,” the President said, opening the session.

Strategic Objectives and Challenges

The President outlined a clear national target:

“We are entering the second presidential term with the hope that together we will reach the level of developing economies.”

“All of us — those present here and those abroad — must mobilize to reach a Gross Domestic Product of 400 billion USD by the end of 2027,” he stressed.

Investment and Industrialization

The President provided concrete figures:

“We have registered 13,700 investment projects worth 6 billion dinars.”

He added:

“I ask you for a powerful economic breakthrough and I thank you for all you have already done.”

Industrial growth is critical for increasing GDP:

“Development is achieved by increasing the share of industry in GDP to 13–14%.”

End of the ALGEX Era and a New Export Structure

The President announced structural changes:

“The ALGEX era is over. You will no longer encounter it along your path.”

He emphasized the need for a new export framework:

“Exporters must establish a special body that will structure their activities and ensure transparency of transactions.”

Cleaning the Business Environment and Supporting Youth

“We must create a new climate for industry and a new generation of entrepreneurs who will make us forget the painful past filled with theft and corruption.”

“We must rely on youth and start-ups — they have clean hands, and they are already achieving results we can be proud of.”

“Those who fear prison and sabotage their work think like corrupt and destructive elements.”

Imports, Finance and the Parallel Economy

“The state does not speculate on selling land for investment. On the contrary — it simplifies access to land in order to accelerate project implementation.”

“We must free investment initiative. It is necessary to understand how the single-window system works and what powers the Investment Promotion Agency (API) has.”

“It is shameful for the President of the Republic to discuss potatoes and their price. No one will force me to import them.”

“Large amounts of money are hidden in cellars — invest them in creating private banks.”

Achievements and International Dimension

“We saved 1.2 billion USD and reached 81% self-sufficiency in durum wheat.”

“There are those who want to see Algeria only in black colors… we have no medicine to cure their vision.”

“If international financial institutions had even one loophole in our figures, they would have been the first to accuse us.”

“We exported 7 billion USD outside hydrocarbons, despite the existence of ALGEX and its ‘dinosaurs’.”

“European partners have accepted the idea of revising the Association Agreement. You are an integral part of this process.”
