On April 17, 2025, the Russia-Qatar Business Forum was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation as part of the official visit to Russia by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The event was attended by Ahmed Azimov, Chairman of the Russia-Algeria Business Council. The forum served as an important platform for strengthening the business dialogue between Russia and Qatar, as well as for exploring new formats of international economic partnership.
Particular interest in the context of regional cooperation lies in Qatar’s participation in projects on the territory of Algeria — Russia’s strategic partner in North Africa. Algeria and Qatar have traditionally maintained active trade and economic relations, including joint initiatives in energy, construction, telecommunications, and logistics.
The involvement of Russian companies in such formats opens up opportunities to attract Qatari investments into joint projects with Russian participation, including through existing Algerian platforms. Priority areas include energy, raw material processing, transport infrastructure, healthcare, the agro-industrial sector, and digital technologies.
The combination of Russian expertise, Algerian infrastructure, and Qatari investment capital could form the foundation for sustainable and mutually beneficial trilateral cooperation.
