On 14 October 2026, Shamil Murtazaliev, a representative of the Russian side of the Russian-Algerian Business Council, and Mahdi Bouguedoura, Chairman of the Algerian side of the Business Council, met in Algeria with the management of GIPEC, a leading Algerian state-owned industrial group producing paper and packaging materials.
The main focus of the talks was the supply of Russian kraft paper to meet the needs of Algerian industry.
The parties discussed the needs of GIPEC companies, technical product requirements and opportunities to arrange direct supplies from Russia.
Following the meeting, they agreed to continue working on identifying Russian manufacturers and agreeing on terms for potential cooperation.
