On May 15, the Russian Export Center held a session titled “Made in Russia: Developing Formats for Promoting Russian Business in the Islamic World” as part of the XVI International Economic Forum “Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum 2026”. The Russian-Algerian Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation was represented by its Chairman, Ahmed Azimov.
Speaking at the session, Azimov noted the declining effectiveness of the traditional export model. According to him, a sustainable presence in foreign markets today is ensured not by one-off deliveries, but by localization, technology transfer and joint investments.
According to the Head of the RABC, Algeria is among the most promising destinations for Russian business. The country’s state policy is focused on the localization of production and the attraction of technology partners, which opens up opportunities for companies ready to build a long-term presence in the Algerian economy.
Azimov also outlined the practical function of business councils: synchronizing the interests of business and government in foreign economic activity, supporting projects, interacting with regulators and identifying partners.
Concluding his remarks, Azimov called on Russian businesses not to avoid complex markets. According to him, it is in the markets of the Islamic world that new growth points for the Russian economy will take shape in the coming years — and companies need to work in these markets professionally and systematically.
