Algeria’s Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts has held a coordination meeting to assess the visa-on-arrival mechanism for foreign tourists travelling to the country. According to APS, the discussion also covered measures to strengthen the attractiveness of tourist routes in Algeria’s southern regions.
The ministry is focusing on the work of tour operators, guides, hotels and other services involved in receiving foreign visitors. Measures under consideration include training for tourism agency representatives and the exchange of successful practices for supporting foreign tourists.
While the initiative is directly related to tourism, it is also relevant to the broader business environment as a sign of Algeria’s gradual development of inbound infrastructure. Simplified procedures for foreign visitors can support the country’s image as a more open destination for international contacts.
