Ahmed Azimov, Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, held talks during his working visit to Algeria with Djamel Eddine Abdelghani Dridi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, and Hilal Benaouda, Director General of Merchant Marine and Ports.
The parties discussed prospects for Russian-Algerian cooperation in the transport sector, including maritime logistics, port infrastructure, and opportunities for Russian companies to participate in the modernization of Algeria’s transport system. Separate attention was given to cooperation in digital solutions and the supply of specialized equipment.
Particular emphasis was placed on establishing direct contacts between Russian transport, logistics, shipping and engineering companies and relevant Algerian institutions, as well as on developing concrete proposals for the Algerian side.
One of the key issues discussed was the resumption of direct air connectivity between the two countries. According to Ahmed Azimov, the launch of regular flights would directly increase the intensity of business contacts, facilitate the implementation of joint projects, and create additional conditions for the growth of bilateral trade.
The Algerian side confirmed its interest in developing practical cooperation with Russian companies.
