On February 17, 2026, the Chairman of the Russia–Algeria Business Council under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation was received by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Professor Dr. Kamel Rezig.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key areas for the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including increasing trade volumes, removing existing barriers for businesses, and expanding direct contacts between companies of the two countries.

The Chairman of the Council presented proposals from the Russian business community on the establishment of a mechanism for the temporary application of tariff preferences. This instrument is aimed at reducing trade costs, diversifying external economic ties, and creating additional incentives for the growth of mutual trade. The Ministry supported the initiative and confirmed its readiness to further elaborate it with the participation of relevant government authorities.

Special attention was given to the preparation of the Algerian products exhibition in Moscow, organized at the initiative of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Trade. The event will take place from June 29 to July 5, 2026, and will be held alongside a Russia–Algeria Business Forum. The meeting also addressed the role of the Russia–Algeria Business Council in organizational support, engagement with Russian companies, and the development of the business program.

The meeting confirmed that cooperation between Russia and Algeria is becoming increasingly practical and project-oriented. The Russia–Algeria Business Council continues to serve as an active facilitator of Russian business interests in the Algerian market and a key contributor to shaping a new agenda for bilateral economic cooperation.
