Russia and Algeria are continuing work to restore direct passenger air services between the two countries. The Russian side expects Air Algérie to resume flights on the Algiers–Moscow route.
Russian Ambassador to Algeria Alexey Solomatin said the relevant authorities of the two countries had established working contacts and that there was mutual interest in restoring the route.
Supporting business and tourism links
Direct flights could become an important driver of bilateral relations. Regular services between the two capitals would facilitate business travel, participation in exhibitions and negotiations, as well as humanitarian and tourism exchanges.
Travel interest between Russia and Algeria is gradually increasing. According to the Russian side, the number of tourist visas issued to Algerian citizens in 2025 rose by 11% compared with the previous year.
No launch date announced yet
No specific date for the resumption of flights or planned frequency has been announced. At this stage, the parties are conducting inter-agency work and no confirmed timetable is yet available.
For the business community, restoration of the Algiers–Moscow route is particularly important amid expanding trade and economic cooperation and a growing number of direct contacts between Russian and Algerian companies.
