On June 4, 2026, the “Russia — Arab World” session took place as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Russian-Algerian Business Council under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation was represented at the session by its Chairman, Ahmed Azimov.
The discussion was moderated by Sergey Gorkov, Chairman of the Russian-Arab Business Council. Participants discussed the transition of Russian-Arab cooperation from traditional trade to joint investment, technological cooperation, infrastructure projects, and access to third-country markets.
In his remarks, Ahmed Azimov noted that the next stage of cooperation between Russia and the Arab world should be the creation of joint investment platforms for industrial, technological, and infrastructure projects.
The Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council also paid special attention to the African dimension. According to him, Russia’s engineering expertise, technologies, and industrial potential can be complemented by Arab capital, financial infrastructure, and logistical capabilities.
Speaking about Algeria, Ahmed Azimov emphasized that the country is of interest not only as an independent market, but also as a practical platform for joint projects and for expanding into the wider African continent.
