The Algerian Investment Promotion Agency has announced preparations for the allocation of new land plots intended for tourism investment projects.
This was announced by Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, on 23 May 2026 in Mostaganem during an information day dedicated to the role of Algerian television in promoting Algeria as a tourism destination.
According to the head of the agency, preparations for the launch of several land plots for tourism investment are nearing completion. The plots will be offered to investors in a number of provinces, including Mostaganem, Algiers, Oran, Boumerdes, Jijel and Annaba.
Special attention will also be given to southern regions with strong potential for desert tourism. Among the promising destinations mentioned were Timimoun, Djanet, El Oued and other southern provinces, which possess significant natural and tourism assets.
Support for Tourism Projects
Omar Rekkache noted that the agency is working in coordination with Algeria’s Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts to create favourable conditions for launching promising tourism projects.
This includes mobilising land plots, providing investors with greater clarity and supporting the practical implementation of projects across various regions of the country.
According to him, Algeria has diverse tourism potential that requires high-quality investment and a stimulating business environment. These measures are viewed as part of a broader approach aimed at turning tourism into a real driver of economic growth.
Tourism as a New Investment Priority
The Director General of the agency stressed that the tourism sector can benefit from Algeria’s current economic momentum and the noticeable improvement in the business climate.
He noted that the reforms initiated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune have contributed to strengthening Algeria’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
According to the agency, between 1 November 2022 and 15 May 2026, a total of 280 investment projects were registered in the tourism sector. The declared value of these investments exceeded DZD 257.5 billion. These projects are expected to create more than 17,000 direct jobs.
These figures reflect growing interest in tourism as one of Algeria’s promising areas for investment development.
Promoting Algeria as a Tourism Destination
Omar Rekkache also highlighted the role of Algerian television in promoting the country as a distinctive tourism destination.
He noted that the media helps present a positive image of Algeria, showcase the diversity of its tourism potential and inform investors about opportunities and ongoing transformations in the sector.
In conclusion, he emphasized that the task today is not limited to promoting Algeria’s image. It also involves building an integrated vision that will make tourism a productive sector capable of generating wealth and employment.
For foreign investors, this means that Algeria’s tourism industry is gradually becoming one of the priority areas for investment, alongside industry, logistics and infrastructure.
