On 17 April 2025, the Russia–Qatar Business Forum was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation as part of the official visit to Russia by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The event was attended by Ahmed Azimov, Chairman of the Russia–Algeria Business Council. The forum became an important platform for strengthening business dialogue between Russia and Qatar, as well as for discussing new formats of international economic cooperation.
Of particular interest in the context of regional cooperation is Qatar’s potential participation in projects on the territory of Algeria — a strategic partner of Russia in North Africa. Algeria and Qatar traditionally maintain active trade and economic relations, including joint initiatives in the energy sector, construction, telecommunications and logistics.
Participation of Russian companies in such cooperation formats opens opportunities for attracting Qatari investment into joint projects involving Russian partners, including those based on existing Algerian platforms. Among the priority sectors are energy, raw material processing, transport infrastructure, healthcare, agro-industrial development and digital technologies.
The combination of Russian expertise, Algerian infrastructure and Qatari investment capital can form the basis for long-term and mutually beneficial trilateral cooperation.
