Kommersant covered remarks by Ahmed Azimov, Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council, at a Moscow roundtable on 21 October.
According to the newspaper, Azimov urged Russian businesses to invest in Algeria, develop local production, open offices and employ Algerian staff.
He noted Algerian partners’ willingness to invest and share risks if the Russian side was ready to transfer technologies and localize production.
Financing was also discussed: Kommersant cites VEB.RF Deputy Chairman Daniil Algulyan’s estimate of an African portfolio of around USD 2.5 billion and reports that support mechanisms, including mezzanine lending, are being developed.
The roundtable preceded the third Russia–Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum, scheduled for 28–29 October 2026 in Moscow.
