Algeria’s national oil and gas company, Sonatrach, has announced the appointment of Noureddine Daoudi as its new Chief Executive Officer. The decision reflects the company’s intention to strengthen its management team and enhance the efficiency of the national energy strategy’s implementation.
Noureddine Daoudi, a geologist by training, has more than 20 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration and production. Since April 2020, he has headed the Al Naft agency, and earlier served as Central Director at Sonatrach (2007–2012).
Sonatrach is Algeria’s largest company and one of the key players in the global energy sector, providing a significant share of the country’s export revenues. The appointment of the new CEO comes at a time of active reforms in the oil and gas sector aimed at expanding refining capacity, modernizing infrastructure, and attracting investment.
The Russian-Algerian Business Council welcomes these leadership changes, which reflect Algeria’s commitment to strengthening the management of its strategic assets, and reaffirms the readiness of the Russian side to expand cooperation with Sonatrach and other energy institutions in the country.
