June 11, 2026 — An shareholders’ agreement on the establishment of a joint venture between a Russian company and Frater Razes, one of Africa’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, was signed in Algeria.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Alexey Solomatin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Algeria.

The ceremony was attended by Akhmad Azimov, Chairman of the Russian-Algerian Business Council; Anton Shcherbakov, Managing Partner of GEXP; and representatives of BIOrasi Services.

The Algerian side was represented by Dr. Abdelhamid Cherfaoui, President of Frater Razes, the company’s senior management, and the project curator and partner of the initiative, Yacine Helis, owner of Ibn Rochd Laboratory.

The signing followed the visit of Frater Razes’ management to Russia in spring 2026.

The joint venture will launch production in Algeria of molecular diagnostic systems, which until now have been fully imported from abroad, as well as specialized equipment.

The cooperation goes beyond supplies. It includes technology localization and joint scientific work, with a scope extending beyond Algeria to the markets of the African continent and the Arab world.

During the visit, the parties held a series of working meetings. As a result, they formed joint working groups in key areas — from product registration and production setup to equipment supplies, technology localization and export — and agreed on a project roadmap.

A separate part of the programme was a meeting with Wassim Kouidri, Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry of Algeria. The parties discussed the localization of molecular diagnostic systems in line with the country’s national strategy to strengthen its healthcare system and epidemiological security.

The project is therefore moving from signed agreements to the stage of practical implementation.
