A 29,000-tonne shipment of Russian durum wheat has been sent to Algeria from ports in the Leningrad Region, marking the first such shipment in 2026 after a pause in supplies.
The shipment was carried out under the supervision of specialists from the Saint Petersburg branch of the Federal Centre for Agro-Industrial Complex Product Quality Assessment. The products were tested for quality and safety indicators, checked for quarantine objects, and fumigated before export.
According to the inspection results, the wheat meets the requirements of the importing country. In 2024, 31,500 tonnes of wheat inspected by the Centre’s experts were exported to Algeria through Baltic Sea ports.
The resumption of shipments confirms continued demand for Russian grain on the Algerian market and underlines the importance of agriculture in Russian-Algerian trade and economic cooperation.
For Russian exporters, the development is also significant in terms of confidence in quality and safety control procedures, as compliance with the importing country’s standards remains a key condition for stable supplies to Algeria.
